DESIGN PROCESS

Visual Inspiration

Conceptually the Director and I worked with the transformation of dreams. The play constantly changes into different fairy tale stories that evolve as it continues. This also takes place in a basement resembling a forest that has to change into the setting for each different story. This led to a lot of inspiration from butterflies, book sculptures, and dark forests.

The final design became a transformative space that combined the elements of dark forest, basement, dream, and versatility. This set also included two secret entrances within the upstage bookcase and wardrobe. As well as lots of practical lighting through various lamps.
